Herb To Body - Organic Elderberry Whole 4oz

In Northern Europe, the dark blue-purple berries of the elder tree, also referred to as black elder and European elder, are commonly utilized in the culinary realm to create soups, jams, and jellies. Additionally, these berries are employed in the production of various alcoholic beverages, including Beers Vlierke, a juniper-flavored gin.

Elderberry is recommended for upper respiratory tract infections and headaches associated with colds. It promotes sweating and can help to break a fever. Research has found that elderberry is effective against colds because it contains antioxidant flavonoids that protect cell walls against foreign substances.*

Habitat & Cultivation: Originating in Europe, elder flourishes in wooded areas, hedgerows, and on neglected land. It has spread to numerous temperate regions and is frequently grown intentionally. Elder plants are propagated through cuttings in the spring. The flowering tops are gathered in late spring, while the berries are harvested in early autumn.
